Polk Museum of Art, located in Lakeland, is hailed as Central Florida's premier art museum. Tour the outdoor sculpture garden or participate in art-related lectures, films and museum tours. Explorations V Children's Museum encourages a hands-on, fun-filled adventure. Watch the kids play in the child-sized grocery store, news station, recycling area and airplane. Admission is $5, children under two are free. 863-687-3869
Legendary architect Frank Lloyd Wright came to Lakeland in 1938 to create a "Great educational temple" in Florida. He designed 18 structures for Florida Southern College to resemble buildings rising "out of the ground...and into the sun." Twelve were built, making it the largest one-site collection of Frank Lloyd Wright's work. 863-680-6201

The 16 Winter Haven Chain of Lakes produce some of the most consistent catches in the region that include largemouth bass, bluegill, and black crappie. Located six miles south of Lake Wales is Crooked Lake, offering 5,000 acres of deep, clear fishing water. This is an ideal bass and bluegill angling location! One of Florida's premier bass fishing "hot spots" is Tenoroc State Reserve, found northeast of Lakeland. The park offers different types of pits designed for fly-fishing, fishing teams and bank fishing. >> Golfing
If you're looking for a landscape that includes challenging hills, lush vistas, natural lakes and wetlands, look no further! The Lekarica Hills Golf Course, Restaurant & Country Inn, Lake Wales, offers a rolling course and features elevation changes of more than 100 feet. There is no water in the design, but nearly every hole has bunkers protecting the green or fairway. 863-676-8281
Imperial Lakes Golf and Country Club in Mulberry is rated as one of the best golf courses in Polk County. This is the where Lee Jansen and many other professionals got their start. Water, sand and tall oak trees make this a real test of skill. 863-425-1154

Located on Lake Mirror is Hollis Garden. A gift to the people of Lakeland from the Hollis family, this 1.2-acre site showcases more than 10,000 flowers and ornamental shrubs, shade trees and a grand staircase connecting Lake Mirror Park to the garden area. 863-603-6281
Historic Bok Sanctuary is one of the most beautiful and famous landmarks in the state. Designated as a historical landmark, people from miles around enjoy the sound of the daily carillon recitals as the choruses of 60 bronze bells fill the air. The sanctuary includes 128 acres of gardens, a nature observatory and unique garden paths. While strolling the historic sidewalks of Polk County, visitors will be delighted to find antique shops, gift stores and outdoor markets. Whether you're in the market for some handmade crafts or one-of-a-kind items, surprises are found around every corner.
The Barn Antiques, established 1969, is a large, family-run antique shop in rural Central Florida. Selling a wide variety of items, most of them dating from the early 19th through early 20th centuries, the Barn features two spacious showrooms, an extensive area for stained glass, and four warehouses full of beautiful antiques for a memorable shopping excursion.
